How to take care of your percale bedding

How to take care of your percale bedding

Percale cotton has a crisp-cool matte look and it's soft and lightweight, as well as breathable. Our percale bedding is finished with a stone-washed treatment, for added softness and a relaxed look. Therefore these pieces are easy to take care of but proper maintenance will increase its longevity.
Nobody wants bedding to become stiff, misshapen, or scratchy, so here you have some tips to take care of our pieces.

When to wash?
Pieces that have direct contact with your skin - Sheets, pillowcases - should be washed around every seven days. Less frequency may result in the accumulation of unwanted filth like dead skin cells and dirt. On the other hand, washing too frequently can wear out your bedding prematurely. It’s also a good idea to rotate in another set during washes to preserve color, and elasticity and extend the overall longevity of the product.

How to wash?
Use lukewarm water, not too hot or too cold! Hot water damages the threads, shrinks the fabric, and fades the colors. On the other hand, the cold may not perfectly clean bedding.
We advise against the use of harsh detergents, fabric softeners, and bleaching agents. Over time, fabric softener puts extra stress on the fibers. Bleach makes the white percale sheets brighter, but weakens the cotton fibers. Instead, use a mild detergent, suitable for delicate fabrics.
Avoid overloading the machine, and ensure there is enough space in the washing machine for the pieces to move freely. Overloading the machine can lead to inadequate cleaning and increase the chances of wrinkles.

How to dry?

After washing, tumble dry on a low heat setting. High heat can cause shrinkage and damage the fabric. Remove the sheets from the dryer while they are still slightly damp to minimize wrinkles.

Iron if necessary! Percale cotton sheets are known for their crispness, but if you prefer a smoother look, you can iron them. Set your iron to a low or medium heat setting and iron the sheets while they are slightly damp. Be careful not to apply too much heat as it can scorch the fabric.
When not in use, store your percale cotton sheets in a cool, dry place. Avoid direct sunlight as it can cause fading. Fold them neatly to prevent creases and wrinkles.
